An airship that keeps its mechanics in full view
Sailing In Fog is a freestanding wooden 3D puzzle combining a historic airship with completely exposed steampunk mechanics. Its curved framework leaves gears, connecting rods, propellers and structural joints visible, allowing the engineering itself to define the design.
Above the ornate circular base, the gondola appears suspended beneath the airship's great skeletal structure. The finished model feels more like a kinetic display piece than a conventional wooden kit.
A machine whose inner workings can be followed from outside
Open framework: the curved outer structure does not enclose the mechanism. Ribs, braces and technical components create new layers from every angle.
Connected mechanical movement: gears and rods drive several propellers and parts across the airship. You see not only what moves, but how the transmission connects each group.
A music box integrated into the mechanism: its melody gives the moving construction the character of a machine from an imagined past. The model becomes a scene to watch and listen to.
LED lighting accents: illumination picks out the open forms, gears and layers of green and brown. Touch control lets you switch it on whenever you want to explore the details in a darkened room.
