Dunhuang Dance: a painting brought into three dimensions
Dunhuang Dance transforms a composition inspired by the paintings of the Mogao Caves into a layered Book Nook. Celestial figures float in light garments and long ribbons, while red and turquoise palaces, mountains and clouds create a world that feels both lively and harmonious.
Its depth comes from careful layering. The apsaras appear to pass in front of and behind balconies, rooftops and landscapes, as though a painted scene had acquired volume. Warm light enriches the golden backgrounds and makes the transitions between planes easier to appreciate.
Art, travel and movement in one composition
A visual language inspired by Dunhuang: celestial figures, lotus motifs and flowing ribbons recall themes associated with the historic paintings of the Mogao Caves.
Movement created through layers: garments, clouds and architecture occupy different depths and change their relationship as the scene is viewed from another angle.
Red, turquoise and gold in balance: palaces, rooftops and ornament create rich contrast without distracting from the lighter figures.
Landscape and the Silk Road: mountains, water, deer and camels extend the story beyond the dance and evoke journeys and encounters.
Touch-controlled LED lighting: the front control activates warm light around the golden backgrounds, floating garments and layered architecture.
