Kasuga Grocery Store recreates a dagashiya: a traditional Japanese neighbourhood shop where snacks and drinks sit alongside magazines, small goods and colourful signs. Its timber façade, dark roof tiles and warm lanterns bring a sense of nostalgia, while the white vending machine adds a familiar modern contrast.
Behind the open shopfront are bright packages, bottles, boxes and a long row of drawers beneath the counter. Outside, an angled display holds newspapers and magazines. A gnarled tree grows beside the building, and near the entrance a cat occupies its usual chair as though it watches over the shop each day.
