A writer's study filled with books, the sea and cats
Hemingway House by Minicity captures the appealing disorder of a life devoted to writing in a two-storey Book Nook. Downstairs, several typewriters share space with open manuscripts, stacks of books and drawers; above, the room continues into a gallery filled with volumes, bottles, photographs and small keepsakes.
The central staircase connects the two levels and keeps the view open all the way to the back. A boat, ship's wheel and large suspended fish bring the sea into the study, while cats have found their own places among the shelves, furniture and floorboards.
What makes Hemingway House special?
More than one place to write: typewriters sit on different desks and chests, surrounded by papers, open books, lamps and small everyday objects. The room feels as though it is still being used rather than preserved as a spotless museum.
Two floors with distinct personalities: the lower study and upper gallery offer different points of interest. The staircase, balustrades and open central space keep both areas connected without flattening them into a single backdrop.
The sea runs through the library: the boat, ship's wheel and suspended fish form a recognisable motif at the heart of the scene. They contrast with the books and manuscripts and remain striking even when viewed from a distance.
Cats hidden among the furniture: the figures appear at different heights and lead your eye from the writing desk to the upper shelves. Finding each cat becomes part of exploring the finished model.
Warm LED lighting with touch control: the light picks out the desk, staircase and upper bookcases, enriching the warm tones of wood and paper. The sensor is positioned in the roof, where it remains easy to reach.
