Tsukino Eogi-dou: a Japanese folding-fan shop in miniature
Tsukino Eogi-dou brings a small Japanese shop devoted to folding fans and decorative crafts into a Book Nook. Its open display presents fans with different motifs alongside dolls, patterned bags, prints and illustrated cards.
The shop occupies two levels of an urban townhouse. Dark roof tiles, red balconies, noren curtains, plants and a stone lantern frame the façade, while a stairway leads towards more shelves inside.
A craft told through its objects
Folding fans as the focal point: opened on stands and repeated across the display, their varied colours and patterns make them far more than background decoration.
A collection made to explore: dolls, tiny bags, prints and cards fill cabinets and shelves, giving the miniature the identity of a genuine craft shop.
An opening front door: the panel swings out to provide a clearer view of the stairway and shelves inside.
Recognisably Japanese architecture: dark timber, red balustrades, tiled roofs, fabric panels and signs connect the merchandise with a traditional urban townhouse.
Warm LED light with touch control: the control on the side wall illuminates the fans, dolls and rear shelves, bringing out their colours and patterns.
